Dental Services Provided by Dr. Plumlee:

Usually, creating and fitting a crown requires two or more visits to the dental office. By using the latest dental technology, the Cerec Primescan, you can schedule one visit and walk out with a new, natural-looking crown. The device allows the doctor to take a digital impression, design, and produce the restoration right in the office. He can place the restoration the same day the impression is made to make your crown process more comfortable and take less of your valuable time.

Digital radiography is a form of x-ray imaging in which digital x-rays are used instead of traditional film. This form of imaging is faster, more convenient, and offers the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images with less exposure to radiation.

The types of digital examinations are: intraoral, using a small camera in the mouth to view a limited region inside or extraoral, using a larger camera outside of the mouth to visualize a wider region.

Digital technology also allows us to look at your x-rays on a computer screen or television monitor making it much easier to review and share our findings with you.

The intraoral camera provides you and Dr. Plumlee with a view of the inside of your mouth using miniaturized electronics. This miniature camera looks like a slightly oversized pen and allows us to guide you on a tour of your mouth.

You are able to look at a TV monitor and see what your dental team sees. The tiny video camera is moved around inside your mouth to allow a complete examination of your teeth. The images can be stored on the office computer for later reference. Images can be enlarged and analyzed to catch problems earlier than simple visual exams.

We have always screened our patients for any signs or symptoms of oral cancer during regular check-ups, but early stages are difficult to detect during a routine exam. The FDA has approved a new technology called Velscope to diagnose oral cancer. Velscope is a hand-held device that provides dentists and hygienists with an examination system for the early detection of abnormal tissue. It is based on examining tissue fluorescence and the changes in the glow that occurs when abnormalities are present. The Velscope handpiece emits a safe blue light into the oral cavity, which stimulates the tissue, causing it to glow. Dr. Plumlee is then able to view the different fluorescence responses to differentiate between normal and abnormal tissue.

When used in combination with traditional oral cancer examination procedures, Velscope helps detect the abnormalities that may lead to oral cancer. In one or two minutes, with no rinses or stains required, a Velscope examination delivers the most advanced oral cancer exam available in a dental office. We strive to provide this exam at no additional charge to you once per year.

We believe that your hygiene recare appointment is the most important appointment you can have. It helps us to keep tabs on your health. Studies show that patients who have optimal oral health live 7-10 years longer. This is our goal for all of our patients.

Worried about discomfort during your regular cleaning appointment? The Cavitron ultrasonic cleaner gently and thoroughly removes tartar and stains. No more scraping!

Our orthodontics program is focused on no extractions. Some doctors rely on extracting teeth to make space for the teeth during straightening. We work on proper development of the arches, healthy airways, and beautiful facial profiles.

SureSmile® Aligners are designed using advanced software to ensure they fit comfortably and deliver the exact tooth movements needed to achieve your ideal smile. Each aligner is made to the most exacting standards and designed to precisely orchestrate each step of your smile transformation with precision. They are comfortable to wear, easy to live with, and virtually invisible. Great results and designed to last!

Perio Protect® is used for prevention and treatment of gum disease. This is non-invasive and an at-home treatment provided by Plumlee Dentistry. Simply fill the custom tray that fits over teeth with the prescribed medication and wear for a few minutes every day. This delivers protection from and treatment for bacteria below the gumline. Discuss Perio Protect® at your next dental visit!

3-Dimensional images of the head and neck can be used to evaluate structures, bones, nerve paths, and other data to provide the most advanced visualizations in making diagnoses for our patients. Many new services through the office can now be done through the help of this imaging. For example, the 3-D X-ray can be used for dental implant placement for someone wanting to restore their mouth or to analyze the airway in someone with sleep apnea.

We offer conscious sedation for those who would like to have their dental treatment done under sedation in a safe and relaxing experience. Unlike general anesthesia, patients are still conscious but relaxed in a deep sleep. Because patients sleep through most of the appointment, they don’t remember most or any of the procedure which often makes the whole experience easier.
